Derma Roller Guide and Uses

derma roller

If you are about to improve your skincare game, a derma roller is a place to start. We explain the whole thing you need to know about the derma roll and why it could be a crucial part of your skincare routine.

What is derma rolling?

Derma lamination is the ultimate tool at home. It creates tiny micro-channels in your skin. You may be inquisitive why someone would want to do this. Let’s explain this. Her skin is fantastic, and the rolling will make her do cool things.

Facts about derma roller

Fact No.1

When you create tiny channels, it stimulates blood flow and the natural healing process of your skin. The top of your skin is made up of many layers of skin cells. When these layers are broken, your skin gets to work knitting the cells together to continue doing its job

Fact No.2

While your skin is busy healing these tiny channels, it also produces collagen, which makes your skin look bouncy, reduces the appearance of fine lines, and makes your pores less visible. Not only do you have a more even skin structure, but your skin also becomes healthier and more resilient.

Fact No.3

As if the derma roll wasn’t shiny enough already, it has the added benefit of helping your skin absorb products more effectively. When you apply a moisturizer or serum after the derma roll, it absorbs these active ingredients. They work hard for you—using products that are full of ingredients like hyaluronic acid or lots of antioxidants after rolling is great for your skin. However, it’s best to avoid anything that has exfoliating ingredients like AHAs, because if they get into these channels in your skin, you might end up saying “ouch”!

Is Derma Safe?

Yes. When it comes to skin rejuvenation, the object of the game is to control the damage.

Many of the best derma roller skin treatments work this way, stimulating your skin to do the things it already does, but more effectively. However, the word “controlled” is the keyword. Derma Rolling is a more advanced home treatment, but that doesn’t mean it’s complicated. Anyone can do this, and there are just a few things that you should know to make sure it is safe for you.

Start with the right roll length.

Derma Rolling can be safely done at home with rolls up to 0.5mm. Longer rolls are available online. However, once it exceeds 0.5mm, treatment should always be carried out by a qualified professional in a clinical setting. If you are interested in micro-needling, find out more here.

Always clean your roller.

Thoroughly clean your roller with disinfectant spray or alcohol after each treatment. The following time you want to use it, your derma roll will be clean and ready to roll.

Do not ride over an active infection or acne.

If you have an active rash in a particular area, you can still use your derma roller on the rest of your face. The derma roll is excellent for healing the spots created by rashes. Avoid this area if the breakout is present. Once the inflammation is completely gone, you’re good to go!

If you have any other infection or skin irritation, avoid riding until it resolves.

How Do I Pick the Right Derma Roller?

Derma rollers are available in many different sizes. When riding at home, you don’t want to use anything with needles larger than 0.5mm

If you’re new to Derma Rolling, a shorter roller, like our 0.3mm Derma Roller, is a great place to start.

Once you’ve been using your roller skates for a while and are comfortable with it, you can move on to the 0.5mm Derma Roller. It takes your dermis to another level! It is a little longer and offers even better results. This roller is also a great way to prepare your skin for a professional micro-needling treatment.

The Derma Roller Mini is ideal for targeting specific areas and stimulating collagen. The smaller roller size helps reach areas that regular derma rollers cannot. Perfect for the eye area, pores around the nose, fine lines around the mouth (upper lip) or for treating acne scar areas.

How do you use a derma roller?

Step 1. Always start with freshly cleansed skin and clean hands.

Step 2. Decide where to start and hold the skin between your fingers about 3 cm apart.

Step 3. Roll up into small 3 cm sections as if you were drawing a Union Jack flag. Do this four times four times in each direction.

Step 4. You will find that the boning areas are a bit more uncomfortable, like the forehead and nose. Use moderate pressure, but you don’t have to press hard. You got that!

Step 5. When aiming the Derma Roller Mini at an area, swap your coils and focus on hard-to-reach areas.

Step 6. When you are finished rolling, it is essential to disinfect the roller with a disinfectant spray to prevent bacteria build-up. Then place it back in the box and close the cover.

Step 7. Now is the time to apply all of the products. After rolling, avoid using perfumes or scrubs as this can cause irritation. We love using the eye concentrate and moisturizer booster after rolling to give our skin that extra love!
